When the original iPad went on sale April 3rd, 2010, it was a revolutionary device. The iPad 2 is a revision that improves and adds features to the origional. The design is thinner and lighter than the original.
Apple even thought of a new innovative way to protect the iPad. They designed a cover that protects the front of the iPad while keeping the pad comfortable, and stylish, but at the same time not adding weight or bulk. Smart covers do more than just protecting the iPad.They put the iPads screen to sleep when contact is made.
Also, the dividers in the smart cover make consuming media, and being productive a little easier due to the fact that it turns into a stand. Another beneficial feature is that when you open the case by removing the dividers the screen will continue to be sleep in the area the dividers are on. The screen with the removed casing will be awaken .
With a new iOS device comes a new version of iOS. The iPad 2 released with a new IOS 4.3.
These are just minor improvements. The most noticable additions are the front and rear facing cameras.
There is also an app called Facetime included in IOS 4.3 which allows the user to video chat with other Facetime users using the front facing camera.
Even though there still isnt any flash support for the browser, and the screen is still the same 1024 x 768 resolution, the battery life is improved, there is a new faster dual core A5 processor, and now there is 512MB of ram instead of the 256MB on the previous installment. The iPad 2 is great for newcomers however the need for an upgrade varies based on the users desires. Its now at a lower price point due to “the new iPad” (iPad 3). You can buy a new iPad 2 starting at $399 for 16GB (WiFi).
