Amazon – Kindle Fire Review

The Amazon Kindle Fire is a media consumption device for Amazon’s Services. It was released on November 15, 2011. The device has a 7 inch IPS display, and a 1GHz dual core Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 proccesor. It has 512MB of RAM and 8GB of Internal storage with no micro SD slot.

The Kindle Fire is focused on E reading, listening to music, watching movies and t.v shows, running apps, playing games, and surfing the web. Amazon Released the Kindle Fire with the intention of consumers using their services to get content. The Amazon Kindle app provides books, magazines, and graphic novels/comics. The Amazon Mp3 store provides music downloads and streaming. Amazon Instant Video is a video service similar to Netflix that allows consumers to purchase or rent videos for reasonable prices.

However if you are an Amazon Prime customer then you will be granted access to a catalog containing movies and t.v shows that you can stream instantly for free as long as you have Amazon Prime service. The Amazon Silk web browser has been given great reviews for its speediness. Although Silk is supposed to be an Kindle Fire exclusive, it has been ported to run on almost any android device.

The Amazon Appstore is where you will purchase your apps and games. The prices are fair, and amazon offers a paid app for free everyday. People that are unhappy with the dark bookshelf interface will be happy to know that in the Amazon App Store there is an app called “Go Launcher EX” that adds another home screen option, giving you a more android like experience with no hacking needed. The Amazon Kindle Fire is a good consumption device for some one who is paying for amazon services or has content locked into Amazon and wants a portable tablet. At $199 the kindle fire is a killer deal, however it isnt the first or only consumption devie in that price range. Anyone interested in the Kindle Fire should look into Google’s Nexus 7, Barnes and Noble’s Nook Tablet, Or Kobo’s Vox. those are all consumption devices for their companny with the same $199 price point.

Figure out what your desires are in a tablet and pick the one thats right for you, because it will varie based on your needs. The Kindle fire is a good E reader/Tablet hybrid that anyone an be productive and have fun with at a reasonable price point.
