Google – Nexus 7 Review

Google has been making Android software that powers many smartphones and tablets for years. They made the Nexus line of products to deliver a pure Google experience. This is googles first official entry into the tablet market. They teamed up with ASUS to make the Google Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 is a 7 inch Android tablet.

It offers a 1.2 GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, with 1GB of RAM. The Nexus 7 also has a sharp 1280 x 800 resolution. The Nexus 7 was announced alongside Android 4.1 Jellybean at the Google I/O Conference. The Google I/O atendies got to take home a limited edition Nexus 7 in white. Then in July, 2012 it became available for purchase on the Google Play Store, $199 for the 8GB model and $250 for the 16GB model.

The tablet comes with Google’s latest OS Jellybean installed. It is meant to be Googles Play Store’s multimedia consumption device. With the Google Play Store installed you have access to apps, books, music, movies, and now magazines. This device competes with the Barnes & Nobles Nook Tablets, and the Amazon Kindle Fire. Barnes &Noble has the edge on books, and magazine. Amazon has the edge on music, and movies. Google has the edge on apps, and software.
The nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0 both have front facing cameras, while the Kindle and Nook devices dont have cameras at all. The Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 both have resolutions of 1280 x 800, while the Nook and Kindle have lower 1280 x 600 resolution displays. The Nexus 7 is a serious threat to any tablet in the $200 price range. Due to the Nexus 7’s success Barnes & Nobles has lowered the prices on its Nook devices leaving its 16GB Nook Tablet at $199 in competition with the Nexus 7. Amazon is expected to follow suit and lower the cost of its Kindle Fire.

The nexus 7 is good for anyone considering a tablet. The 7 inch screen can either be a benifit or a setback depending on the consumers desires. Before you end up purchasing a Nexus 7 you’ll have to keep in mind that its about time for Barnes & Nobles and Amazon to refresh their devices and they will definately be tough competitors against the Nexus 7. For the time being, the Nexus 7 is the best 7 inch tablet you can get. However, this will only last for a few months because competing companies are due for device upgrades which will be none the less on par if not better than the Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 is a great tablet that runs the latest and greatest version of Android. Its available on the Google Play Store for $199 (8Gb) or $250 (16GB) and it comes with a $25 Google Play store credit so you can fill your device with content immediatly.
