The Virgin Mobile Venture is an Android smartphone made by Alcatel One Touch (which will soon be ZTE in the U.S). It isn’t one of the best phones you can get, however for only $50 its the best phone you can get without contract. It only has a 2.8 inch due to the full QWERTY keyboard on the front. The device has a 600 MHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Those are similar specs that you might find on the earliest Android devices.
Even with those disadvantages this phone still manages to run Android 2.3 Ginger bread very smoothly. The design is very similar to the RIM Blackberry. This phone also has a 2MP camera with flash that isn’t capable of the performance sen o the Galaxy S 3 or iPhone 4s, although its there if you need to take a quick snap or video and its not that bad. The phone looks beautiful and I don’t see why anyone looking for a smartphone wouldn’t consider it. This phone however has been given pretty bad reviews. However, that’s most likely due to the current Android phones that are almost twice as powerful.
There were complaints about the SD card not being recognized and that tuned out to be the SD card it comes with, not the phone itself. Also battery life was a complaint as well. It comes with a 1300 mAh battery which is good, it just depends on how you use you phone and your screen brightness adjustments. There are also great reviews of the Venture. If your looking for a no contract phone you should definitely consider getting the Virgin Mobile Venture. At $50 dollars its in the feature phone price range. Also you can get the $35 a month 300 minutes with unlimited talk and web plan its close to price of buying a prepaid refill card, and its one of the best cell phone plans available for smartphones. The Virgin Mobile Venture is a great and affordable phone however a great experience would depend on what you expect from your smartphone. Especially with this one priced at only $50. The Venture sells at Best Buy, Walmart, Radioshack, and on Virgin Mobile USA’s website.
