Samsung has ventured into the tablet market many times before. They were unsuccesful in competing with the Apple iPad and their Galaxy Tabs might even get banned by Apple’s lawsuit. Samsung released the Galaxy Note smartphone and it sold very well. It allowed users to be even more productive using the S Pen. Samsung is even going to release a Galaxy Note II which they announced at their event.
Now its time for Samsung to try again with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The Galaxy Note 10.1 has a 1.4 GHz quad core processor and 2GB of Ram. Thats the best combimation of processor speed and Ram on an Android device today. The design is very similar to the previous Galaxy Tab tablets however, there are changes. This tablet has all of its buttons on the top of the device.
This tablet is the first one to incorperate a stylus (S Pen) and make sense. The S Pen allows you to take notes, and navigate the system. The tablet comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung has promised to update it to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean very soon. Samsung uses a Touchwiz overlay that might resemble the one you will get on the Galaxy S III.
The Samsung Galaxy Note has a 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 resolution LCD display that is crisp and clear. Dont forget the screen is made by Samsung a company known for the most beautiful screens, so the LCD screen shouldnt be a problem. The tablet has two speakers that are placed on the left and right sides of the screen.
As you will notice, the Samsung Galaxy Note is made to be used in landscape mode, however when used in portrait mode, it still looks decent. This tablet is more than capable of playing games and entertaining you, although productivity is where this tablet shines. On the notification bar Samsung has an extra panel of applications that open on half of the screen. You can move them around and mutitask. Things like a calculator, notepad, and other usefull tools are now available from at anylocation on the device. The IR transmiter was carried over from the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and allows you to program it with your t.v.
There are also S Pen applications that allow you to take notes and be even more productive however there are only a few S Pen applications available at the moment. Adobe Photoshop Touch is even installed and with the S Pen you can the screen senses the amount of pressure you add to determine the thickness of the lines. The S Pen is located in a compartment on the bottom right of the tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Note series is Samsungs niche in the Smartphone and Tablet world. There isnt any inspiration from Apple as far as I can tell.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is available in white and black, and in different memory varieties starting at $499 for the wifi only 16GB model and 50 more dollars for the 32GB varient
